Scoil Mhuire Clane in All-Ireland Final

Scoil Mhuire, Clane 1-13
St. Mary's Belfast      1-6
Leinster Champion Scoil Mhuire, advanced to the All Ireland Colleges Senior B Football Final following a great second half performance in Crossmaglen last Saturday.  There was little to choose between the sides in the 1st half but after the break the Clane boys limited their apponents to two scores.
Three Brendan Bradley frees had the Belfast school team ahead at the end of the first quarter.  Clane soon leveled and then went on a scoring spree with five unanswered points from Kenneth Swords, Sean Christenson and Conor Herbert.  Just before half time St. Mary's scored two points to leave the half time score 0-7 to 0-5 in favour of the Kildare school.
Scoil Mhuire had the wind on the restart and wasted no time in making it count with Swords and Kevin O'Connor combining for David Fitzpatrick to score a goal in the 4th minute.  Sub Kevin Giblin then added two more points to really put Clane in the driving seat.
St. Mary's were given a glimmer of hope when Brendan Bradley scored a superb individual goal but the Clane boys soon retook control to finish strongly.  Cian Kilkenny, Paul Clifford, Herbert and midfielder Christenson all pointing as they advanced to the final.
In the All Ireland Final Clane will play Roscommon CBS who had a very easy victory in their semi-final.  Well done to all concerned with the Scoil Mhuire team and to their ever enthusiastic manager Padraig Carbery.
